Affandi Museum divides into three parts, every part usually called
gallery. Each gallery has different characteristics which is
unique. You will feel the differences when you enter these
galleries one by one.GALERI I
(First Gallery)

You will meet the first gallery when you enter Affandi Museum.
The unique entrance expressly is designed to give a special
impression to the visitors. This gallery consist of many
Affandi's paintings. You could also see Affandi's beloved car
--it is unusual, because it looks like a shark. This gallery
also store Affandi's old bicycle It was often used by Affandi
lasttime. This gallery is very large and
offers many kind of Affandi's paintings collection which are very
artistics. |
The Affandi's paintings stored in this
gallery consist of sketch , watercolor, pastel, and oil paintings.
Several paintings are reproductions result. Here, you will know Affandi's skill
in using every canvas media and you will also be able to differ the way
Affandi paints when using different tools and media.
GALERI II (Second Gallery)

Gallery
II (second gallery) is just about a few metres from the first
Gallery. This second gallery offers a new different
characteristic. This gallery was built with the help of
Indonesian government and officially opened in 1987. This
gallery is used as an exhibition place of variety Museum
painting collection from several welknown painters. You may enjoy many paintings from the different
sight. This gallery has two floors. The first floor consist of
abstract paintings and the second floor is dominate by
realistic ones. |
GALERI III

This
gallery was built by Affandi Foundation in early 1999 and
officially opened by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono in 2000. This
gallery seem to be the youngest building. It was
built to fulfill Affandi's wishes in order to have enough storages
place for his
works. This three floors gallery has the same basic idea, that
have a shaped of the rounded curve with a shaped roof like banana leafes. |
The first floor is used for local
and foreign painter temporary exhibiton. This place is used for
children painting studio called "Sanggar Gajah Wong, in which the
children learn how to express their creativity through painting.
The second floor is use for storage while the basement is used for
storing many painting collections. There is a tower beside this
gallery. You can go there and enjoy the fresh air. You can
also see many parts of the museum, a street, and Gajahwong rive
from the top of this tower. What a beautiful place. |
